All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.

Friedrich Nietzsche

The walk has pockets

The walk has pockets of time for contemplation, momentary pockets for reflection and for flickering and fragmented memories. The walk brings with it pockets of sadness, wishing and longing, ambling alongside hope, vitality and laughter.

The walk brings with it pockets of weather, strong salty breezes blowing in faces, the heat of a summer’s day walking in fields of wheat, and the heavy, earthy smell of approaching rain. But most of all, the walk brings with it pockets of love, abundance and gratitude.

Courtesy of Mayes Creative, an invigorating week was spent alongside fellow artists in Cot Valley, Cornwall; recharging our souls and inspiring our own and each others’ creative practice.

The group artists’ residency brought about pockets of time to create and to become aware in a way in which I had not experienced in a very long time. The time was freeing.

The light was adored and the mind was filled with the delights of new found knowledge and a new rich, lived experience.
